Ushering a new era in Sports
TransStadia Private Limited took up a new initiative by way of which, the company launched India International Sports Summit, which would be held in 2010. An investment of 300 crore would be put into the stadium in Ahmedabad.
TO GIVE a boost to the Sports Industry and promote it in the rural and urban areas, TransStadia Private Limited took up a new initiative by way of which, the company launched India International Sports Summit, which would be held in 2010. The launch on October 21, in Mumbai, saw the unveiling and introduction of the summit. It brought together many acclaimed names from the world of sports, federations, business, media, entertainment and government such as acclaimed Olympian Bronze medal winner and Indian boxing champion Vijender Singh; India's No 1 squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya; Olympic Gold Medal winner, British athlete and javelin thrower Tessa Sanderson;  Member of Parliament Priya Dutt; renowned sports journalist and Editor-at-large of DNA Ayaz Memon

“Corporates should seek to professionalise sports, involving managers and potential sponsors, who believe in long term benefits in investing in this arena can market sports initiatives,” says Udit Sheth, CEO TransStadia. An year-old company, TransStadia announced its first initiative, ‘India International Sports Summit 2010’, which aims to provide a platform for leading personalities to find plausible solutions towards making India a leader in sporting nations. Sheth adds, “We will also initiate our first venture to build a world class multi-purpose stadium in all state capitals in the country, starting with Ahmedabad now.”
 
The theme of the first summit will be “India, Get Set, Go!!” The summit will focus on various areas of sports such as ‘Sporting Infrastructure development, grassroots initiatives in development of sports’, ‘hosting world-class sporting events’, ‘building a career in sports’, ‘taking sports to the deepest corners of India’. The Summit will also cover an array of topics such as the sports and its role in building the youth, contribution of sports to the GDP, careers in sports and creating an iconic infrastructure in sports.

Olympian Adille Summariwalla, acting President of Athletic Federation of India who is also on the advisory board of the India International Sports Summit said, “I am delighted to support India International Sports Summit and its endeavour to bring a sea change in India’s sporting industry. As a sportsman of yester years and now as a sports administrator, I understand the challenges as well as the opportunities that India has in the field of sports and hopefully the summit will become the voice of the industry. I am looking forward to participating in the summit in March 2010.”

An investment of 300 crore would be put into the stadium in Ahmedabad and partnership with the respective state governments would be sought for investment plans in various states. He further mentions, “We would try and act as a catalyst in the government efforts to create a paradigm shift in sports in India.” TransStadia has a licensing agreement with StadiArena from UK to build convertible multi-purpose stadium facilities.
