Ustad Sufi Bawra comes from the school of repute of Late Pt. Vinay Chandra Mudgalaya and Late Pt. Vasant Thakar and is a graded artist from All India Radio.
SAKHA CREATIONS a socio-cultural nonprofit organization recently organised a unique Sufi music concert “Ishq Haqiqi - Ishq Majazi” - a mehfil of sufiana and aashikana kalam - with renowned Sufi singer Ustad Sufi Bawra and troupe at Amaltas Auditorium, Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The programme started off with the traditional song “Allah Hu”, which lit up the auditorium as well as enthralled the audience. The programme was divided into two parts sufina and aashikana classics. Sufi Bawra left the spectators spell-bound when he presented Amir Khusroo’s “Chapp tilak sab cheene re” and Bulleshah’s “Mera Piya ghar aaya”.
The audiences also enjoyed “Haman hai ishq mastana” by famous poet Kabeer. During the second part, Sufi Bawra also presented a bouquet of aashikana kalam, which included Punjabi kalam “Puade dadde ishq de “and traditional holi folk “Aaj Biraj mein hori re rasiya followed by the favorite “Thume dil lagi bhool jaani padegi, Mohabbat ki raaho mein aakar to dekho.
Sufi Bawra is a performing artist in Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). He has also written and composed the title track of famous TV serial “Annadata” a production of Romoji Films, Hyderabad. Apart from performing at national TV & Radio channels, Ustad Sufi Bawra has also performed at eminent organisations which includes Sathiya Kala Parishad, IITF, Banaras Hindu University, and Delhi Tourism et al. His popular releases includes audio cassettes under the banner of Tips music company.
