Vaikunta Ekadasi 2009 - Dedicated to Lord Vishnu
This year there are two Vaikuntha Ekadasis. The Vaikuntha Ekadasi 2009 was in January 7, 2009 and tomorrow on December 28. The Vaikunth Ekadashi is an auspicious day and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Vaikuntha Ekadasi festival or Vykunta Ekadashi is one of the most important Ekadasis. The Vaikunth Ekadashi is an auspicious day and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and falls on the 11th day of every lunar fortnight in traditional Hindu calendar. Vaikuntha Ekadasi is observed in the Margali Month (Margazhi Masam) as per the Tamil Calendar. As per the Telugu Calender, it is observed in the Pushya month. Vaikuntha Ekadasi is also known as Mukkoti Ekadasi and as Swargavathil Ekadasi in Kerela.
 
The Vaikuntha Ekadasi is celebrated more elaborately by the Vaishnavites and is of more importance for Tamil and Telugu speaking people. The importanat activities include fasting, vigil at night and passing through the Vaikunta Dwaram.
 
Vaikunta Ekadasi is celebrated with great importance and pomp in the Tirupati Balaji Temple, Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple, and Bhadrachalam Sita Ramachandraswamy temple

.dec 28th 2009 is one of the most imp festival namely "vaikunta ekadashi". all over india millions of people celebarated mondays ekadashi. as a bhkaktha of vaikunaadhipathi mahavishnu, sir thank you so much for all the brief infoformation. thank u sir.

.Mr.Sridhar is right. Kannadigas including Madhvas and Smarthas do celebrate VaikunTha Ekadashi. Kindly avoid narrowed views in this regard. Thank you so much for all the info.
