FEBRUARY 14 or St Valentines Day, is a special holiday for lovers; an occasion to share their love and affection for each other and to boost their relationships. Lovers celebrate this February 14 occasion mostly by exchanging flowers and gifts, sharing sweets, sending greeting cards and so on.

As it is attached with love and affection, Valentines Day is generally symbolized with winged cupids, doves or heart-shaped outlines. Young lovers all across the globe believe this occasion will strengthen the depths of their love.

Commonly, Valentines Day is said to be attached with St Valentine, a priest from the third century. As per popular faith, he was a third century priest in Rome, a kingdom which was at that time under Emperor Claudius II. Once, the emperor on assuming that a single solider would be more braver than a married one, ordered young men to keep away from marriage.

It was St Valentine who took up the mission of performing marriages among young men. But, unfortunately he was caught by the king and sentenced to death. This unfortunate event turned him into the soul for love, which brought about St Valentines Day.
