UNITED STATES skier Bill Demong has won the eighth gold for his country in 10 km Cross Country individual event at Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 on Thursday. Other United States athlete Johnny Spillane took silver and Bernhard Gruber of Austria won bronze in Nordic combined event.
Gold medalist Bill Demong finished the event in 24:46.9 minutes while silver medalist Johnny Spillane of USA took 25:02.9 minutes. Austrian bronze medalist finished the event in 25:43.7 time. USA won Gold medal first time in Nordic combined event in Olympics.
Bill Demong attacked on the final hill in the large hill competition, hustled into the stadium and raced across the finish line. Bill Demong, who had a disappointing performance in the first individual Nordic combined competition at the Vancouver Olympics, put on a late surge today to capture America's first gold in the sport.
