VARUN GANDHI endorses Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology rake up emotional issues overlooking colossal socio-economic issues concerning Indian society seems to be the best way for Indian politicians. Even in this era of modernity it is tough to find politicians thinking out of box to mobilise people.
Recently appointed general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party Varun Gandhi is latest to join this topsy-turvy mode of politics that already has a band of narcissist leaders like Raj and Udhav Thackeray, the two Yadav’s Mulayam Singh and Lallu Prasad and host of Mayawatis.
Picking up from where he left off during 2009 parliamentary election, Varun showed clear inclination for RSS and BJP propagated ideology during his long speech yesterday delivered in Western Uttar Pradesh city of Saharanpur. He asked his followers to save holy cow and resist its slaughtering at any cost and also urged government to ban cow slaughtering. Comparing cow slaughter with insult to mother he said, “If somebody targets my mother, what would I do? I will stand and save her? Likewise, you should get up, gather and save our mother cow." Aiming at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on her latest garland of currency controversy, the young Pilibhit Madhya Pradesh said the money should have been used for the welfare of poverty ridden farmers and unemployed youths of the state.
Without naming his cousin and congress scion Rahul Gandhi and other young guns from Congress he said there are some handsome faces in the ruling party but his party would trounce them in future.Varun Gandhi is treading the path, which may be advantageous in the short run but can create irremediable wound in the long run. Why can’t he raise other more important issues namely terrorism, poverty, global warming and atrocities on women.
