VC Professor Goel proposes 5R formula for sustainable development
"For sustainable development with environmental protection ensuring inter-generation equity, there is a need for policy implication oriented research in social work and not only the value significance at 95 percent level of significance with many disconnections," opined Professor MM Goel, Vice Chancellor, Jagan Nath University, Jaipur while speaking at the inaugural function of the national seminar on "Environment Protection and Social Work Profession" organized by Department of Social Work, Jain Vishva Bharati Institute recently.

For qualifying a development process as 'Sustainable' the essential requisites are 5 Rs including Resistance, Resilience, Regeneration, Redesign and Replenishment which constitute needed environmental literacy today.  The process should attempt to replenish the natural capital with innovative ideas rather than destroying it. The research should provide policy implications which enhance capabilities and capacities for sustainable development, told Professor Goel.

According to him environment awareness falls in the domain of human resource development (HRD) by social workers necessary for sustainable development.

To ensure balance in the relationships of climate change, environment and economic development, we need good governance which means SMART (Simple, Moral, Action Oriented, Responsive and Transparent) administration, believes Professor Goel.
