Vettori urges Kiwis to 'stay positive' despite loss
New Zealand lost the third match of the series at Vadodara's Reliance Stadium by nine-wickets, which follows the 40 run defeat in the first match at Guwahati and eight-wicket defeat in the second match at Jaipur.
NEW ZEALAND captain Daniel Vettori is playing the ‘stay positive’ card after his side slumped 0-3 down in the five match one-day series against India.

New Zealand lost the third match of the series at Vadodara’s Reliance Stadium by nine-wickets, which follows the 40 run defeat in the first match at Guwahati and eight-wicket defeat in the second match at Jaipur.

It was New Zealand’s ninth successive one-day defeat from completed matches.

“We are playing a very good team at the moment, so its difficult to play well against them, but we are also disappointed with our own performances,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Vettori, as saying.

“I think we can perform better than what we have shown so far, but we still have to sit back and appreciate how well India have played,” he added.

The 31-year-old further reckons that his bowlers lacked penetration and discipline on the flat batting wickets on offer for the series.

“We are not winning and that’s down to all across the board, not bowling well enough and certainly not putting up scores that are competitive in one-day cricket,” Vettori said.

“It is so important to get one win under the belt and everyone is hurting immensely and disappointed with the way we are playing and it''s not happening at the moment - we keep getting opportunities and we got to take one of them soon,” he added.
