The film is about a boy who wants all the normal things in life: money, love and respect. He gets everything and more (read children) with a very unconventional way and that is the entire story of..
THANK GOD Vicky Donor turned out to be a film more than just the unique subject line of sperm donors in India. People, who gave the film a chance, were pleasantly surprised at the fun they had in the theatre with watching the infamous stereotype of Bengali and Punjabi clash on the screen, and the actors who did more than justice to the film. Not only this, the subject line of sperm donation, which can be quite serious, is taken up in a lively and entertaining way and well written by Juhi Chaturvedi.
Ayushmann Khurrana, a boy from Chandigarh turned RJ turned VJ arrives with this film and people who were irritated with his incessant chatter on television, would be surprised to see the same quality lending a kind of likability and panache to his character of Vicky. With perfect comic timing, Ayushman has made a mark on the map without any Godfather. Since the character is about a Delhi boy, Ayushman sails through the entire film being charming and funny. Yami Gautam, his love interest in the film also suits the character of an emotional Bengali girl to the T.
The real fun is however, watching the side characters such as Dr. Chadda played by Anu Kapoor, Vicky’s mother played by Dolly Ahluwalia, his grandmother and their rivals that are Yami’s Pishi and father. Anu Kapoor dishes out dialogue after dialogue regarding why sperm donation is a noble act and how it has been legal from the times of Mahabharata, and all the other characters lock horns with each other over the stereotype anti caste marriage of the central characters.
The director of the film Shoojit Sircar has proved his mettle with his second venture and John Abraham must be flying high with his debut production doing so well. His ‘Rum whiskey’ song was already making headlines but the song ‘paani da Rang’ is a real hit with the audience. All in all, apart from all the good ratings that the film has received, everyone has to say one thing about the film and that it does not have one dull moment.
