Victory of Barack Obama vis-a-vis India

India should use the next four years of Barack Obama for the best interests of the country. It should best utilise the opportunity by playing its diplomatic cards with care for strategic and safety reasons.

THE US presidential elections are always an important factor deciding the future of not only the world’s most powerful nation, but even of other countries in the world, including especially South Asia.

9/11 attack on World Trade Tower and subsequent killing of Osama Bin Laden by the US, infiltrating air-boundaries of Pakistan gave automatic chance for India to be closer to the US as in comparison to Pakistan. India should best utilise the opportunity by playing its diplomatic cards with care for strategic and safety reasons.

It is time that Indian government takes main Opposition Party BJP in confidence like in yesteryears when the then Congress Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao did by entrusting leadership of Indian delegation at a crucial international summit to the then Opposition Leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee rather than his own Foreign Minister.

India has always been united in matters relating to external aspects like Congress supported NDA government during Kargil war, and veteran Jansangh leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee crowning Indira Gandhi as ‘Durga’ for her leading nation to victory in 1971 Indo-Pak war.

If such a strategy is maintained, then India will always be on top in matters involving it with Pakistan. Better Indo-American ties will also be in interest of mutual economical interest of two countries.
