Video: BJP leader Dayashankar Singh calls Mayawati `worse than a prostitute'
Vice-president of BJP – Uttar Pradesh, Dayashankar Singh, in an extremely sexist attack called the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former chief minister of UP, Mayawati 'worse than a prostitute.'

In the video, Singh says, "Even a prostitute fulfills her commitment after she is paid. But Mayawati sells party tickets to anyone who pays her the highest amount. If someone gives her Rs 1 crore for a ticket she will give it to other person who is offering Rs 2 crore. Mayawati has become worse than a prostitute and abandons the ideals of Kanshi Ram," he said.

Regarding the statement by Singh, Mayawati said that she was unaware of any such comments but if anything objectionable is found, the party will take the decision as to what action should be taken. "These kind of derogatory statements show that BJP is frustrated with the growing public support for BSP," she added.

This comes as an embarrassment for the BJP as the party is aggressively countering the allegations of being anti-Dalit, especially after the Dalit protests that have stormed the state of Gujarat.

Expressing regret over the incident in Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, said, "I express personal regret. I associate with your dignity and stand with you."

"I should tell Mayawati ji that the party shares her grief over this issue, I will look into this matter, we stand with her. I am personally hurt that a BJP party person used such derogatory words against Mayawati," he added.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Ashutosh tweeted the video and has wrote: "Do you want more proof that BJP is anti-Dalit?"

Congress leader Sanjay Jha, took to Twitter and demanded that Singh apologise for his remarks. In his tweet, Jha wrote, "Political discourse touches a shocking nadir with this vicious abuse of Mayawati Ji ! @BJP4India, kindly apologize."
