Vidya Balan has a beautiful voice: Shabana Azmi
Vidya Balan, has the rare distinction of having been a darling of both the audiences and the critics, who have praised her for her consistently impressive performances. She also enjoys great respect within the film industry and from her peers.

Recently, Waheeda Rahman said in an interview to Anupam Kher that she sees herself in Vidya Balan and now the actress has received a compliment from another powerhouse performer, Shabana Azmi who praised her impeccable voice and compared her to the likes of Jaya Bachchan.

Azmi took to a popular micro-blogging site to tweet, "Jaya Bachchan Deepti Naval Nandita Das Vidya Balan have very beautiful speaking voices with impeccable pronunciation."

In the meantime, actress Vidya Balan on Thursday refused to give back her National Award saying it was an honour bestowed on her by the nation and not the government. The remark was made in the backdrop of some notable film personalities returning back their National Awards in solidarity with FTII students.

"This honour (the award) is by the nation and not the government. So I do not want to return it," Vidya said at the India Today Conclave. The actress bagged the National Award for the best actress for her stellar performance in The Dirty Picture in 2012.

Many filmmakers like Dibakar Banerjee and Anand Patwardhan have given back their National Awards.

The FTII students ended their 139-day strike on Wednesday against the appointment of actor and BJP member Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of the esteemed institute. However, they said they would continue to seek his elimination, but in a peaceful manner.

On the work front, the 37-year-old actress is busy shooting for her next Marathi film Ek Albela. It is a biopic on actor-director Bhagwan Dada and she will play actress Geeta Bali in the film. The film is slated for release in January next year.
