Vidya Balan the Indian Meryl Steep, receives accolades in Filmfare Awards
Vidya Balan fared well in the 2012 Filmfare awards as her rivals were seen rooting for her to win..
INDIAN OSCARS happened yesterday night and the whole of Bollywood came out to grace the red carpet and woo the black Filmfare statute. However, only a few were actually able to do that and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) did the best job taking back home 7 awards. Inspite of that Vidya Balan was the talk of the evening and almost everyone was sure that she had won the best actress award for The Dirty Picture and she did. She is almost like the Indian Meryl Streep although she is much younger and wins almost all the awards for which she is nominated. Meryl Steep on the other hand has been nominated for 17 Oscars and had won only two till date.
However, Vidya is the new brand of Bollywood with whom the directors are comfortable and who is sure to portray the character with her own imagination. This helps the audience to see and experience a Lalita in Parineeta, a Vidya in Paa, Krishna Verma in Ishkiya and Silk in The Dirty Picture instead of Vidya Balan.
The best actor award was taken home by Ranbir Kapoor for Rockstar. Although the movie did not do great at the box office yet it was a very different movie, which serious moviegoers enjoyed and Ranbir earned the black lady as he pushed himself till the very end to play the brooding musician.
Zoya Aktar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, the movie which everyone loved and watched over and over again, also went well with the Filmfare jury. It won awards in almost all the categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Dialogue, Best Supporting Actor (Male), Best Movie (Critics), Best Cinematography and Best Choreography. Rockstar was just after ZNMD and won as much as 5 awards.
Aruna Irani won the Lifetime Achievement Award and according to ibnlive.com, she said that she has won two lifetime awards but the present one was special as it does take a lifetime to win a lifetime award.
The entire evening was held together by Ranbir Kapoor and
Shahrukh Khan, who according to
Karan Johar, had been behaving like a married couple the entire week of rehearsals. If we go by what Karan said then the case might be true as the chemistry between the two hosts was crackling and left the audience in splits, especially with their gags. Apart from this a number of other people took home the black lady and they were:
