Vikram Iyengar rides the 'Equus' Challenge.
The Bharat Rang Mahotsav was started a decade ago by the National School of Drama in order to contribute to the growth and development of theatre across the country.
 
British playwright Peter Shaffer’s Play Equus, a complex, psychological drama requiring immense amounts of skill to portray. it correctly has challenged directors and fascinated audiences in equal measure,which explains why virtually no Indian theatre director has not attempted it. Vikram Iyengar took the Equus Challenge at the ongoing Bharat Rang Mahotsava. Kolkata group ‘Ranan’ showed belief with Iyengar and the adaptation of Equus became reality.
The Bharat Rang Mahotsav, The 17-day theatre festival of the National School of Drama, New Delhi is running with all colors and delight.
 
The festival has today firmly established itself on the global theatre festival map and is acknowledged as one of the major theatre festivals in Asia.The ongoing Mahotsav gathering  the works of the finest writers from India and abroad.  The festival has plan to teem up   with works of dramatists who lived and wrote centuries ago - Euripides, Shakespeare, Herman Hess, Sartre, Kalidasa, Anton Chekov and Henrik Ibsen. Indian Playwrights Such as Asghar Wajahat,Manav Kaul,Bratya Basu,MaheshElkunchwar and others are expecting Sunshine and hopes this time for their yet to be staged Plays.
 
The Bharat Rang Mahotsav was started a decade ago by the National School of Drama in order to contribute to the growth and development of theatre across the country. From being an annual national fest that presented the most creative of recent work in India, it has grown into an international event.Global level drama troupes are staging plays at the festival. Troupes from China, Pakistan, Italy, Israel, Germany, Singapore, Nepal, Afghanistan and other countries are taking part in this festival. Some of these drama troupes will also stage their plays at Bhopal festival, as per the tradition of National School of Drama.
 
Central India’s Bhopal is also a stage to the Bharat Rang Mahotsava. The festival was inaugurated at Ravindra Bhawan on January 12. Plays are now running at Bharat Bhawan and Ravindra Bhawan
.
This year, this festival is being held at Mandi House in New Dehli from January 6 to 22.
