Village in Haryana named after US President Donald Trump
Toilet charity Sulabh International has named a village after US President Donald Trump.

According to the founder of Sulabh International Bindeshwar Pathak, the village in Nuhu district in the Mewat region of Haryana has been renamed to provide a fillip to Indo-American friendship and Swacch Bharat initiative.

According to a press release of Sulabh Administration, posted on the internet on June 23, the village named after President Trump was a gesture meant to honour relations with the US and for support to improve sanitation in India. However, the new name of the village is not official, therefore, it will not appear on maps.

The children of the village gathered around a photograph of Trump during the renaming ceremony of Trump Sulabh Village in Maroda of Haryana and hailed Trump through sloganeering. However, it is being held by many that it is a mere publicity and advocacy gimmick.

Sulabh International, founded in 1970 by Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, is a social service organization for promoting human rights, environmental sanitation, non-conventional sources of energy, waste management and social reforms through education.

Pathak has been honoured nationally and internationally for his exemplary work with awards such as the Padma Bhushan (1991), International Saint Francis Prize for the Environment-"Canticle of All Creatures" (1992), Bombay Citizen's Award (1992), Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award  (1994), Babu Jagjivan Ram Award for abolishing scavenging (1997), and Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Award  (2003).
