To resurrect his derailed career Vinod Kambli fought recently concluded Assembly election in Maharashtra but here also his new inning was cut short before take off. He was representing unknown but locally popular political party Lok Bharti from a Mumbai suburb Vikhroli. He had to bite the dust in his debut inning itself.

Contemporary of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli in his international career played 17 tests and scored 1084 runs, including two back to back double hundreds in 1992-93 season, against Zimbabwe and England. During his ODI career, he played 104 matches for India and scored 2477 runs. Vinod had tried not once or twice but numerous times to cement his place in the nationalside but he failed to do so owing to his poor performance on the field and indiscipline. But his West Indian flamboyant look with pop singer like earrings combined with wrist bands were always hit among the public, his enthusiastic fielding added value to the team but fate had something else.

Once it was sure, he is no longer good enough for national side, he switched over to acting and modelling, where till date, he only did none so inspiring roles. With his political career back to square one, ostentatious Kambli will have to plan his strategy once again.

What an irony, they played cricket together during school days, emerged to fame together scoring 664 runs during school days in an inning, played together even in national side but one is greatest cricketers of all times while another one is still trying to find base. Is it destiny or mismanagement.
