Virat Kohli to play under the captaincy of Cheteshwar Pujara in a match against Australia A
Indian Test team captain, Virat Kohli has decided to improvise his skills by playing in the second four-day 'Test' against Australia 'A' in Chennai from July 28-31. He will however not be leading the team as Cheteshwar Pujara will be there as a designated captain.

Virat Kohli had himself requested the selection committee to provide him this opportunity, as per a report in English daily Mid-Day. BCCI's secretary, Anurag Thakur said at a post selection press conference that Virat Kohli had requested the selection committee for some match practice and wanted to play a game against Australia 'A'. He will be playing the second four-day game against Australia 'A'."

It has also been highlighted that when selection committee's chairman, Sandeep Patil was asked about who will lead the side, Patil said: "Cheteshwar Pujara is the designated captain and he will lead the side."

In fact in an equation where the team was decided in 30 minutes, there were discussions on various long term issues and Virat Kohli mooted the point of playing a first-class game. The reason for this, it will be proper match situation and Chennai's Chepauk pitch is pretty similar to Sri Lankan wickets, which will provide him with match simulation. The another technical reason being, Indian teams on tours normally treat practice games as extended net sessions with batsmen retiring after playing 100 balls.

It will be interesting to see Kohli playing under the captaincy of Pujara, though Pujara will be more than happy to have Kohli in his team, which will have a definite positive impact on the Indian team's batting attack against Australia's junior team.
