Visit to Ha Long City and Bay embellished with lime stone pillars in Vietnam
I happened to visit Ha Long City of Vietnam - a famous tourist spot better known for its bay and lime stone pillars with caves regarded as wonders of nature. It has also been declared as UNSECO's World Heritage Site. During the visit, some pictures were taken which are presented here.

Ha Long is a city on Vietnam's northern coast Ha Long Bay Archipelago of Vietnam. It's the capital of Vietnam's Quang Ninh province. Ha Long City is primarily a transit point. The city is divided into two parts, the new city and old city, both connected by a bridge. Bai Chay is the tourist part with plenty of hotels and restaurants. Hon Gai is the local part with businesses and markets. The two parts are connected by a big Bai Chay Bridge.

The city is a major industrial center in Northern Vietnam with one of the biggest sea ports, which receives imported fuel and oil for the whole North Vietnam. Despite that, it continues to be a gritty town with pockets of bland high-rise hotel development dotting the shoreline.

Bai Chay is a take off point for Ha Long Bay for visit to mist-covered limestone islands using ferries and boats. Bai Chay has an artificial beach, a casino, cafes and dozens of hotels, resorts and hostels. The boats just stop at an island with two preserved caves along the way.

Fried squid cake is cherished in Ha Long because good quality of squid is found here. There are many restaurants opposite the beach offering mostly Vietnamese rice dishes and seafood which is served on the ferries also. Local specialties include su fish - found only around Ha Long Bay. Western and Asian food can be found in hotels' restaurants.
