Visit to Vietnam's Ha Long limestone pillar islands
During my current visit to Vietnam, I happened to tour the city of Ha Long and the wonder of nature in the sea famous for several thousand small islands consisting of limestone hillocks and vegetation.

The city and the islands have become an international tourist destination ever since UNESCO declared it as a World Heritage Site. With the upgradation of tourist facilities, both local and foreign tourists have been flocking the site.

A lot of hotels with private beaches and cruise rides have come up in the city and around it. The place now boasts of a water park with special shows showcasing crocodiles, seals and dolphins. A lot of swimming pools with a number of facilities such as swimming, paddling and wadding have also come up.

Water polo, water basketball and water fun games activities along with beach volleyball and sun bathing are very popular.

However, the most popular are the morning and evening four-hour cruises in the sea to watch several hundred natural limestone islands having caves and tunnels. One can hire small bamboo boats to pass through the tunnels. The whole experience is awesome and makes you humble in front of the bounty of nature.

"The whole experience is a once-in-a-lifetime that is so uplifting that you develop a respect towards nature and what it provides you. One really realises the harmony between man and the nature is essence of human existence. The sunrise and the sunset at the place is so different and unique that one is is able to see the marigold sky with hues of yellow and orange which no other place in the world can really offer you," said a co-tourist from India.
