Vivo IPL 2016: Gujarat Lions v/s Rising Pune Supergiants match preview
In match 6 of the Vivo IPL 2016, both new franchises Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants will clash against each other at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday.

Gujarat Lions who are playing at home today, have had a good start to their IPL 2016 campaign after they beat Kings XI Punjab on Monday.

On the other hand MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants have also been impressive in their only played match so far against the defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat Lions led by Suresh Raina have an impressive batting lineup with the likes of Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch and skipper Raina himself. Dwayne Bravo was impressive with the ball and dismissed David Miller and Glenn Maxwell in his match-turning over against the Kings XI Punjab on Monday.

MS Dhoni confessed after the first match he played as the skipper of the new team Pune, that he was missing his yellow jersey and not wearing it for the first time in an IPL match made him emotional. His sentiments can be well understood as he led the Chennai Super Kings in all IPL seasons so far until the franchise was barred from the league last year.

Nevertheless, Dhoni too realises that the show must go on and he seems to be doing a good job as the skipper of RPS. His bowling changes brought wickets each time and Ajinkya Rahane's swift innings contributed to the team's maiden win against MI.

RPS are also blessed with a strong batting lineup with players like Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen, Rahane and MS Dhoni as their top four batsmen. Each one of them can be equally destructive on his day. Apart from these four, all eyes will be focused of Ravindra Jadeja, who will play his first IPL match in front of his home crowd today.

The only slight edge that GL have against RPS is in the bowling department. Dwayne Bravo, who is the highest wicket taker in the T20 format and limited over specialist bowler, James Faulkner are a force to reckon with.

"RPS skipper Dhoni is just 14 runs shy of becoming the seventh batsman to get 3,000 IPL runs. Previous records suggest that teams batting first at the SCA Stadium have mostly lost and the average first innings scores have been around 170 runs. Overall, today's contest should be an interesting one to watch.
