Vivo IPL 2016 match preview: Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab look for their first win
In match 7 of the Vivo IPL 2016, Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab come face to face desperate to register their first wins at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi today.

Both teams have suffered losses in their opening encounters. While Delhi lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab lost to debutants Gujarat Lions.

Delhi Daredevils had finished at the 7th position in IPL 2015 and come into today's match as the underdogs. Delhi under their new captain Zaheer Khan need to improve a lot to make a strong come back after their initial loss.

Delhi has a very young team, especially their top five batsmen who need to be groomed by the coach Paddy Upton and mentor Rahul Dravid.

Kings XI in comparison look a much stronger side and impressed in their opening match, although only in parts. Their openers had set up the game nicely and almost done the job, but both David Miller and Glenn Maxwell threw their wickets away in the same over.

Punjab's bowling is a major area of concern for them as they found it difficult to defend a reasonable total of 162 in their opening match. Gujarat Lions managed to chase down the target in only 17.4 overs.

Kings XI player Shaun Marsh, who missed the opening match might replace Marcus Stoinis in today's match.

Left-hander, Quinton de Kock is the only international player in the top five of the Delhi Daredevils. The good news for Delhi is that the South African is in good knick and ended up as South Africa's biggest run getter in the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20. Shreyas Iyer, who had a decent Ranji season is also expected to fire for Delhi.

In the bowling department, the responsibility to tying down the opposition will rest on the strong shoulders of skipper Zaheer Khan and leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Delhi also have the option of bringing in Imran Tahir in place of Nathan Coulter-Nile depending on the playing conditions.

If David Miller and Glenn Maxwell are the star batsmen of Punjab who can demolish any bowling attack, Tamil Nadu batsman Murali Vijay cannot be counted out either. In the opening match against the Lions, Murali timed the ball well and looked impressive.

Kings XI are a relatively inexperienced side in the bowling department, especially when it comes to spin bowling. They rely heavily on Mitchell Johnson and Chris Morris to provide them with breakthroughs.

Delhi is the only IPL team which has lost more matches at home than they have won. The Delhi Daredevils have played 44 matches at Ferozshah Kotla and won only 17, with a success rate of just 37 per cent.

At the Ferozshah Kotla pitch the average score in the last 18 matches has been about 150 runs. Out of the last 18 IPL matches played here, the teams chasing have won 13 matches. Since summers have set in, the dew won't be a factor in the second innings and the spinners should not have difficulty in gripping the ball.
