Vivo IPL 2016 match preview: Match 50 – Royal Challengers Bangalore V/s Kings XI Punjab
In match 50 of the Vivo IPL 2016 to be played out at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangaluru on Wednesday, home team RCB will meet Kings XI Punjab, a team that has already lost the race for making it to the Playoffs.

With two teams RPS and Kings XI Punjab out of contention, the competition to make it to the Playoffs is now between six teams. Among these six teams RCB is bottom most with just 12 points at the fifth place in the points table, with just two more games to play. RCB need to win both their remaining games to survive in the tournament.

Royal Challengers started IPL 2016 slowly after losing five out of their first seven matches, but now the team looks in full flow as Virat Kohli's dream run in the tournament continues. He is the current Orange Cap holder with 752 runs in IPL 2016 under his belt.

RCB have beaten Gujarat Lions by 144 runs and also chased down 184 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last two matches.

Kings XI Punjab have also made a turn around in the later part of the tournament, but perhaps a bit too late. Kings XI had lost to RCB by 1 run last time the teams had met at Mohali and would like to settle scores with them on Wednesday.

Not far behind Virat Kohli in the batting lineup of RCB is AB de Villiers who has scored 597 runs in this season of IPL with a strike rate of 173.54. Now that Chris Gayle has also started showing signs of return to form, it is going to get very difficult to restrict RCB to a low total.

Kings XI have looked a better side under the leadership of the new skipper Murali Vijay who has scored three half centuries in the last six matches as captain. After Hashim Amla's entry the top order of the Kings XI is looking solid.

Kings XI have a 10-7 win-loss record against RCB in IPL matches. Even at Bengaluru KXIP have an edge with a 4-3 win-loss record against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However in the last three encounters between the two, both have managed to win their home games.

My pick for today match is undoubtedly the Royal Challengers Bangalore who are lead by the virtual run machine Virat Kohli.
