Vivo IPL 2016 preview: Qualifier 2- Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad eye the final spot
The Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi will host the second qualifier in the Vivo IPL 2016 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Gujarat Lions on Friday night, with both teams battling it out for making it to the final on Sunday.

The Gujarat Lions had almost defeated RCB in the first Playoff match by first recovering from a poor start and scoring 158 and then reducing the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 68-6. Had it not been for the heroic innings of AB de Villiers, the Gujarat Lions would have been in the finals in place of RCB.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are upbeat after their victory against KKR on Wednesday in the eliminator, although they did not score a lot of runs. SRH did manage to defend their score of 162-8 by restricting the Kolkata Knight Riders to 140-8.

Gujarat Lions are lucky to be getting a second chance of making it to the final of IPL 2016, as they finished in the top two teams. However, today is the end of the road for the loser.

For Gujarat Lions, their batting is their strength, especially their top order with batsmen like Aaron Finch, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina and Dwayne Smith.

Although skipper David Warner has been the main run scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but Yuvraj Singh also did show his class in the last game by scoring a 30-ball 44. Shikhar Dhawan should look to play the anchor role in today's match and provide stability to the batting. However, they must watch out for Dhawal Kulkarni who accounted for four wickets against RCB in the last game.

The pace attack of SRH is no less either with Purple Cap holder Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman. In fact, SRH is the only team to have defeated the Gujarat Lions at both home and away in this season of IPL. At Rajkot, SRH had restricted GL to 135-8 and in the next game in Hyderabad, SRH had restricted the Gujarat Lions to 126-6. SRH had won both the games by chasing down the score easily.

My pick for today's match are the Sunrisers Hyderabad, a well balanced and disciplined side.
