Vocational education: Solution for unemployment
In these recessionary times, vocational education is the only panacea for the government to equip the youth with employable skills. The demand for clerical jobs is going down and it is important that new skill sets are learnt.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION and training is inter-connected, in fact, without practical training, education is merely building theory based intellectuals, who do not have the skills to earn their livelihood in the real world.

In India, education today is only preparing the younger generation for some office based clerical jobs. The problem is that such jobs are reducing day be day. The way the Indian education system functions it boosts only the unemployed ranks rather than job ready individuals, who are ready to contribute positively.

It is agreeable that there is need to to produce intellectual power for the world through our present education system i.e through the IITs and so on. But the need of the hour is to impart skills that can earn a livelihood for the youth, which is throbbing with energy to do something positive.

This is also a well know fact that the whole of the younger generation cannot earn the living only through intellectual skills. There is a need for a balance of vocational skills and intellect in the Indian manpower, which could help India survive in this recession.
The world today needs skilled manpower and time has come that India delivers on its promise.

It is important that government of India shifts the present pattern of Indian education to a strong “vocational education & training” system as it exists in other parts of the world. Need is for a system which can deliver skilled manpower in a short span of time and for that the country must develop a very strong vocational education system.

The present vocational education and training system prevailing in the country is wasting lot of financial resources by way of duplicating and again the whole system is not in a position to deliver the required skills for various sectors of economy, which needs effective, potential, really skilled people not only for India but for the World Economy.

It is important that the financial resources available at the command of government agencies are utilised in an optimum manner. The need of the hour is to pool financial resources being wasted by the government and put them directly under one organisation or perhaps the Prime Minister himself.

It is also suggested that a tripartite (government, customers, students) forum is established to control, monitor and implement the real vocational educational and training system. This will produce skilled manpower not only for India but for the requirement of the whole world and for all the sectors of economy.

There is strong need that the Indian government take a positive and effective steps to use vocational education as a tool to get "Skilled Manpower" for both Indian and the world.

.Vocational Education & Training is the educational system which can prepair the required skill in the younger generation with short span of time say three to six months and make him/her employable to take up any challening job, which would help the student to start his/her career in any given profession. Vocational Education & Training - a good system would help to update the skill/s of ther person as and when required at a later stage. But we need to make our society to accept and adopt the good Vocational Education & Training System in plcae to traditional education System prevailing in our Country. The other problem is the adoption and acceptance of Vocational Education System by the Government as a periority area. The Public-Private Partnership System developed and given to Government of India for adoption at Industrial Training Institutes (I.T.I.s) level was developed with a view to involve all the stake holders in the system but I am sorry to say that the Government's Finance Department's rigidity of not providing Financial Liberty to the Institute Managing Committee/s would end the whole process un-sustainable process.
