VODAFONE ESSAR, one of India’s leading cellular services operators, announced that its Mumbai Circle has been awarded the Payment Cards Industry Data Security Standard (PCI – DSS) ‘Version 1.2’ certification – one of the most stringent information security standards in the world. With this, Vodafone Essar has become the first telecom services operator in India to receive this certification, which signifies that it offers the highest levels of security for card transactions on its portal, self-service kiosks, IVR & stores. Vodafone Essar will now commence the audit and certification process for its other circles in India.

PCI DSS is an information security standard developed and maintained by the PCI Security Standards Council for preventing cardholder data theft and to help combat credit card fraud.
