Volkswagen Beetle-The return of the legend
Beetle will be imported from Mexico as a completely built unit attracting 110 per cent import duty making it four times expensive than Polo, which will be made locally at Volkswagen's plant at Pune.
VOLKSWAGEN HAS rolled out the costliest hatch-back car from its stable-the new Beetle. Priced at Rs 20 lakhs 45 thousand, the Beetle has already bagged 150 advance bookings. Adding to the long list of SUVs, Volkswagen also screened its road dominating Touareg in India which was earlier available only on order.
 
Opening with the performance by Shiamak Davar, the experience of stylized and comfortable living was looming large at the launch. Beetle is the first car in the world to sell over 20 million units in the 80s; it will now stand with the tagline of ‘return of the legend’ it’s all set to rock the Indian roads.
 
A great Model of the old German engineering, New Beetle is equipped with 2L 4 cylinder petrol engine with an output of 115HP at 5400 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Concentrating on the safety, Beetle has 4 air-bags, Anti-Lock Brake System, Electronic Stabilization Programme and engine immobilizers.

"The Beetle is the very first Volkswagen car people remember about, with its unique shape and reliability. People’s fascination for this lovable bug shaped car has made the beetle one of the world’s most popular cars across the decades," Volkswagen's Passenger Cars Member of Board and Director Neeraj Garg told reporters here.
