A GROUP of youngsters came together on Sunday morning, November 1, to showcase their talent on the walls of Park Street, Kolkata. Many street mongers witnessed an exhibition of paintings, poetry, photographs, posters and live rock performance. The participants were largely young college students and artists.
“We are a group of college friends, and each one of us are blessed with multifarious talents. I am a painter and a photographer. We used to take these up very casually. One day we all decided to go one step ahead and take these things seriously and hence the idea of holding an exhibition popped up,” said Ranabir, an artist and student from St Xavier’s College.
The exhibition consisted of a range of artefacts, starting from hand paintings, post cards, hand painted shoes, fabricated shirts, hand made lamp shades and diaries. These items were quite affordable: Rs 50 to Rs 5000.
“We started exhibiting our art work, with a vision to showcase our talent in a more channelised manner. Youth has a lot of talent and potential in them, but most of them are not privileged enough to get the proper guidance and platform to portray their endowment. I guess we have just started off with it and we are optimistic,” said Upasana, a photographer and the manager of the bandwagon.
The talented group of young people belonged to different colleges like the Jadavpur University, St Xavier’s College and Presidency College.
