Was Jesus Christ HIV positive?
Pastor Xola Skosana's way of preaching has been respected by AIDS campaigners in South Africa, but some Christians have blamed him of describing Jesus as sexually immoral by drawing a link between the son of God and HIV/AIDS.
THE CHRISTIANS are badly upset by South African churchman in Cape Town, who preached a sermon entitled ‘Jesus was HIV positive’ in a bid to fight the disgrace surrounding HIV and AIDS disease. The pastor preaches at the non-denominational Way of Life church in Khayelitsha, near Cape Town, a township with one of the highest rates of HIV in South Africa.

The 43-years old pastor said that God was present in everyone, sick and healthy. ‘My responsibility as a pastor is to paint a picture of a God, who cares for people and wants the best for them, not who judges them and is ashamed of them,’ a newspaper quoted pastor Xola Skosana.

His way of preaching has been respected by AIDS campaigners in South Africa, but some Christians have blamed him of describing Jesus as sexually immoral by drawing a link between the son of God and HIV/AIDS.

The South Africa Catholic Churches have been particularly reserved on the deadly disease, which kills nearly 1500 people daily in the country. Last month pastor Xola Skosana, who has lost two of his sisters to AIDS, underwent an HIV test in front of his worshippers, along with more than hundred young people from the township.

South Africa's National Aids Council (SANAC) has welcomed his stand. There are many churches in the country that have done a lot to combat HIV. The problem is that the church as a whole has not been vocal enough.
