Clearly this is not convincing. If somebody charges you for bribe, how can you defend yourself citing Gujarat projects instead of initiating legal actions? Is there really a Jayanti tax? Does Modi have any proof?
There can be two things. First there must be a 'Jayanti tax' and the amount would be so high that the corporate couldn’t afford it. Natrajan too is allegedly guilty of blocking the files for months on her table. You can either accept or return a file but can't keep it pending at your table for long time? This creates confusion. Her successor within the days of taking charge cleared projects worth 1.5 lac crore rupees!
Secondly, she may be honest and blocked the files only in the interest of the country. If it's the fact then the Congress party should be asked some serious questions as to why she was sacked from that ministry and how Virappa Moily cleared such huge projects in few days including easing norms for mining of coal. Is Moily corrupt or his tax is lower?
Point is there's no direct confrontation to Modi's charges and thus serious doubts rise. Onus is on the Congress Party to answer with evidence ‘whether there is really a Jayanti tax?’ If yes what action is taken apart from sacking her? If not why she was sacked and how Virappa Moily cleared the project? Also why no legal proceeding is being launched against Narendra Modi for publicly defaming Jayanti Natrajan?
The Congress party must note that Narendra Modi is a smart politician. In the absence of any proper defense from the party, he would destroy whatever credibility remained in the Congress party.
