Washington snowfall forecast, more snow predicted on Wednesday
NYC public schools called a snow day as did those in Washington after a snowstorm on Tuesday. The National Weather Service has said that it will worsen on Wednesday, with Virginia, eastern Maryland and Columbia also getting 10-20 inches of snow.

THE WEATHER in Washington state and other regions on the eastern coast may get worse, even as another major snowstorm hit the region on Tuesday. Both schoolchildren and federal workers in Washington and New York have been told to stay home this Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has said that Virginia, eastern Maryland and Columbia should also be ready for 10 to 20 additional inches of snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. This would be the third major snowfall to hit Washington DC and surrounding areas.

Washington DC snowfall became the biggest issue last week, when the national capital's Dulles Airport saw 32.4 inches of snowfall in just two days.

The only federal workers on duty in Washington DC would be all Washington National Guard full-time personnel who were asked to report to duty on Tuesday and stay on duty for the next two to three nights to help in emergency rescue operations. Crews are already working fulltime to clear roads and repair power lines.

Bus services in Washington and Maryland can be cancelled today. Air services are on, with Reagan National Airport, Dulles Airport and Baltimore Airport working on Tuesday, but passengers have been asked to check their flights and airlines before coming.

The weather forecast says that the severe snowstorm threatens to hit Washington, Chicago, New York, Baltimore, New Jersey and Philadelphia, apart from Tennessee and Ohio valleys and southern New England. Connecticut and Rhode Island may see 10 to 18 inches of snowfall too.
