Watch: IOA Goodwill Ambassador Salman Khan forgets Dipa Karmakar's name, calls her Deepika
Salman Khan is the king of controversies. There seems no end to his thoughtless utterances. He had created a major controversy last year by questioning the government on hanging Yakub Memon in his tweet. After receiving backlash he later had to retract the controversial tweet and apologize unconditionally.

If Salman Khan is the brand ambassador of controversies, his dad Salim Khan is the brand ambassador of apologies, as whenever his illustrious son make a controversial remark, he steps in for damage control and apologises on his son's behalf, almost like his official spokesperson.

It was only a few days ago that Salman Khan had received a lot of flak, especially from women over his `raped woman' remark. But, do we really expect Salman to learn from his mistakes? I guess not! Salman did not apologize for his comment this time, despite several summons from the National Commission of Women.

A lot of people had raised questions when Salman Khan was named the Goodwill Ambassador for 2016 Rio Olympics by the Indian Olympics Association. But, if there were opposers to his nomination, there were many who came out in the 50-year old actor's support.

It now seems that the people who had questioned Salman Khan's being made IOA Goodwill Ambassador have been proved right.

At the trailer launch of his brother Sohail Khan's upcoming film `Freaky Ali' on Sunday, Salman Khan forgot gymnast Dipa Karmakar's name and referred to her as Deepika. Perhaps, he was thinking about Deepika Padukone at that time.

Salman, while launching the trailer said, "I thought... it was Deepika? I thought she was going to win gold but she came eighth, no?" More shockingly, a reporter sitting nearby corrected Salman saying the name is Dipti.

No Mr Khan, her name is Dipa Karmakar. The Indian girl who made us all proud at the Olympics that very day by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the individual vault finals in her debut Olympics.

What is even more funny is that Dipa was the first sportsperson Salman had promoted on his Instagram and Twitter accounts on April 30, 2016. Here is his tweet as a gentle reminder.

Embarrassingly for Salman, this was not the only faux pas of the evening. While introducing Nawazuddin Siddiqui at Sunday's event he said, "Please welcome Nawazuddin Shah." Maybe Salman was thinking about Naseeruddin Shah at that time.
