Stagnation of water can be due to numerous reasons. Chief ones being, stagnation in swamps, lakes, lagoons, etc. Also includes surface and ground water stagnation, trapped water stagnation. The water may be trapped in human artifacts (discarded cans, plant pots, tires, dug-outs, roofs, etc.) as well as in natural containers such as hollow tree trunks, leaf sheaths, etc.
However, water getting stagnated in open drains is indeed a big health hazard and concerned people should do everything to control the side effects of such drains to the bare minimum.
Covering such drains or making the water to be in mobile condition are some of the solutions which would help in controlling the side effects of such water stagnation. Some reports suggest that by installing perforated drains with the help of an architect or a water damage specialist, the situation may be brought under control. For avoiding ground and surface water stagnation, drainage of surfaced and subsoil is advised.
Areas with a shallow water table are more susceptible to ground water stagnation due to the lower availability of natural soil drainage.
Experts may be involved in debating the above issue
for coming out with the best of the solution to make the society and
community live in good healthy environment.
