We are under pressure says Dhoni
MS Dhoni knows about the importance of the second ODI, which is being played today against Pakistan at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In this nnis video, he said, 'It is an important game. We are a bit under pressure because it is a must win situation.' If the Indian side loses the second ODI, then the Pakistan team would win the ODI series with the third ODI at Delhi to be played only for pride.
IN THE first ODI, it was the Indian batting, which could not stand up to the PakistanI bowlers, who created havoc with their swing and seam bowling. “It is a fresh start and we have to stick to the basics,” said Dhoni. But the pitch at Eden Gardens is not going to assist the Pakistan bowlers the way the Chennai
pitch did during the first ODI. This is scertainly going to suit the Indian stroke makers and Dhoni's explanation of the pitch 'It is like Miss Universe' should make Indian batsmen happy.
But Dhoni does admit that the team does not have a genuine seaming all-rounder. With the introduction of the new ODI rules as well, India
need to re-think about their 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers policy. Dhoni conceded that due to the new ODI rules bowlers are under pressure. It is mandatory for 5 fielders to be inside the 30 yards circle at all times, as per the new rules. The Indian team has not decided about their team combination for the second ODI, but Rohit Sharma might be told to sit out, and Ravindra Jadeza might be asked to play for his skills with both bat and the ball, as he can fit the all-rounder's tag.
During day-night matches, dew normally plays a very important role, and might have an impact on the result as well. Both teams have to play well in order to win the match. Dhoni said, “The wicket remains the same in both the innings. We have to play good cricket to win the game.” Dhoni also wants his batsmen to treat the deliveries with merit and treat every ball as it comes.
If India are to level the series, they have to play well enough against the confident Pakistan side. Both the Indian batsmen and the bowlers need to perform their role perfectly.
