Weapons of mass destruction are waste of money
If steps are taken to raise the standard of living in the country, it just gets entangled in the web of politics and corruption. The nuclear bill is still finding it difficult to find its way out of this web.
INDIA LAUNCHED one more successful missile in Orissa and the researchers and scientists say that this kind of missile has been launched for the first time in the world and India feel proud for this.

How happy, would I have been if our scientists would have launched a bio-fuel because of which cars could run without petrol or a technology that would have helped to remove waste from polluted water?

In a situation where 40% of Indians sleep with empty stomachs, how can we think of spending millions of rupees in weapons and missiles? Though, missiles and weapons are the destruction tools, we fight for our existence. I am not against these weapons as they are being made to protect country’s future.

But if there is no country remaining, what would we fight for? Even the smallest part of money used in developing these weapons, if used effectively for the betterment of the poor, would be a better help in securing our country’s future.

If steps are taken to raise the standard of living in the country, it just gets entangled in the web of politics and corruption. The nuclear bill is still finding it difficult to find its way out of this web. If this bill would have been passed when it was proposed, our country would not have been suffering with this kind of electricity shortage.

At the end of the day, it looks like there is a rat race where all the nations are getting in, so as to reach the check point first. On one hand, we support nuclear disarmament but contradicting to this, we also come up with new innovative weapons of mass destruction.

A country which is going to be rich in slums touching 93 million next year is not justified with spending millions of rupees in developing weapons. Unless a country is not strong from within, it cannot show the world its mightiness.

These weapons are indirectly contradicting the purpose for what they are actually made for. So it would not be wrong to call our government, “weapons of mass destruction.”
