WEATHER FORECAST reports that Chennai has been observing rainfall from the past few days, which has created some mismanagement in the city, putting life in disarray. Most of the schools have closed for the week and flights are getting delayed.

The heavy rains have also claimed 13 lives by now, though reports suggest that most of the life loss has occurred due to houses collapsing in districts like Villupuram, Tirunelveli, Kanchipuram, Tiruchirapalli, Cuddalore and Madurai.

Weather officials have forecast heavy rains over the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over the next two days. Fishermen have also been warned not to venture into the sea.

The city has observed 45.9 MM rainfall on Saturday, November 7, though the temprature has become a comfortable 24.7'c with a calm wind speed of 13 MPH. As per readings, Chennai receives annual rainfall of 1,300mm annually, with monsoon holding court for four months. These rains occur due to the north eastern monsoon winds and sometimes remain till late November, moving from north west India towards south. Winters in Chennai also receive moderate amount of rainfall.

Chennai has always seen fluctuation in seasonal temperature, with variation in weather readings. The mercury here, remains above 40'c during summers, while, it goes down to around 24'c during winter.

The city has also observed cyclones in the past, coming from the Bay of Bengal.
