DUSU recently launched a website that would cover the body's upcoming student leader elections by providing information related to the polls in general and the candidate profiles.
THE DELHI University Students Union (DUSU) has decided to launch a website in context of the upcoming DUSU polls. The website would provide information about the upcoming elections and candidates.
Many reforms have taken place in the university after JM Lyngdoh committee's recommendations were implemented for DUSU polls. However, a simple practical approach to place groups fielding contestants for all the posts of DUSU in the beginning of ballot-papers in alphabetical order of group’s name could make the process easy. Certain parties usually attempt to trick voters by fielding candidates with identical names and/or pre-fixing ‘A’, ‘AA’ etc to place names first in the ballot-papers.
It was indeed shameful on part of poll-aspirants last year when Justice GS Sistani of Delhi High court had to pull up student-leaders approaching Delhi High Court against rejection of their nomination forms. The rejection was because of their inability to complete the forms properly as they had signed at places where those proposing and seconding their names had to sign!
The elections need to be made more realistic, with a wide representation of all university students, by making it compulsory for all colleges affiliated to Delhi University to get their students automatically enrolled as members of DUSU.
