Since these efforts lead to diverting much of police-force from normal activities for an interruption-free scheduled screening of MNIK, Ashok Chavan should take some concrete long-term steps to effectively check ‘proxy-rule’ of parties like Shiv Sena and MNS in Mumbai and elsewhere in Maharashtra. This can only be done by trapping big leaders connected with such hatred-generating regional parties in cases with carefully drafted charges, rather than just arresting petty party-workers for a day or two.
