Rupert Murdoch sat all composed and quiet during the Parliamentary Select Committee hearing, least expecting an attack. But that's what happened; his wife Wendi Deng came into action at the right moment, and saved her husband from having pie on his face.
WHILE THE Murdoch father-son duo are trying tooth and nail to safegaurd their media empire, which is caught up in a phone hacking scandal, see who comes to their rescue, Murdoch senior’s wife Wendi Deng.
Rupert Murdoch and his son James yesterday appeared before UK Parliamentary Select Committee to testify in the phone-hacking case. In the middle of the hearing an unidentified assailant targeted Rupert with a shaving cream pie. Troubled by the escalating phone-hacking case, senior Murdoch was unable to see the pie, but his wife Wendi spotted it. And guess what she did? The lady, dressed in a pink jacket and polka-dot skirt, planted a hard slap on the protester’s face. Following this the hearing was suspended and the protester was arrested.
Wendi’s slap has become the most talked about thing on the internet at the moment. Some are calling her a tigress and a ninja, while others have labelled her as threat to British politicians.
US news anchor Katie Couric tweeted that Wend’s act had given a new meaning to the term “tiger mother”. There were more of such funny remarks on Twitter, while a Wendi Deng fan club has been started on Facebook. The club already has around 700 fans.
