In another development, one of the most essential and basic questions of retirement planning, is the one that is unfortunately also the most ignored: does your retirement plan cover health care insurance?

It is important to start thinking about health care issues as you begin planning for your retirement needs. Always remember that planning ahead will protect you and your family from the possibility of having to pay considerable health care costs, or worse, being unable to afford health care or long term care when you need it.

Always take the necessary steps to protect your financial future as well as to plan ahead for your health care needs. As a generality, however, most people do not pay enough attention to this very important aspect of life; planning.

A large number of people, pre-retirees as well as retirees, readily agree that health and health care are the most important issues in retirement. However, almost not many really spend enough time actually planning for health issues in retirement. Most pre-retirees do undertake some kind of planning for the financial aspects of retirement, but seem to neglect understanding and planning for health benefits options.

Remember, early retirement planning should focus more on health, rather than the size of your investment portfolio.

Many people are hit with a sense of loneliness they hadn't expected when they retire. For many, being alone overshadows many of the positive aspects of not working anymore.

Another vital inherent issue in retirement is "loneliness". Many people fail to realize the importance of connections in their working life. Before retiring, people often work for the same organization for twenty or thirty years. Even if they don't socialise outside of the office, many feel a sense of kinship to their associates. A type of family bond often occurs when people work together for a long time.

While many people enter retirement and are shocked or disappointed by a sense of loneliness, there are many things you can do to connect with others. Unfortunately, most will require initial effort on your part. For people who love to tag along and don't like to take initiative, this can be a challenge. Set small goals and experiment with activities that will get you involved with others.

The most concrete step for you to have a retiree is to set a target or a goal for you to follow and for you to be guided as you go along the way.

On a final note, it is worthwhile to note that retirement may result in the disappearance of what has helped define who we are and what we do. This can produce a feeling of loss, fear of the future and intense loneliness.

In addition to these internal issues, a retiree may be faced with adjusting to the change in the relationship's status. Two people at home together find altered routines can result in feelings of claustrophobia as they get in each other's way. Daily routines are upset. The result for many retirees is not a sense of a new beginning but a feeling this is the beginning of a painful end.
