What does Valentine's Day mean to single boys and girls?
Countless number of couples would be keenly waiting for February 14th, celebrated throughout the world as Valentine's Day. But, there are boys and girls, who are single and are still waiting for their valentines. For these single boys and girls, Valentine's Day does not hold a special place, and they find this day of love 'just another day of their life'.

Prawesh Chettri who works in Hyderabad will be heading to office on this special day as he is single at present. “As I am single, Valentine's Day does not matter much. It is just a normal day,” he says. He does not mind being single as he remains busy with his work, but would love to be someone's valentine, when the time is ripe. “Things could have been different had I been in a relationship. Special plans could have been made,” he says.

Another such boy, Parag Ekka from Bihar, who also feels nothing great about the day, says, “Valentine's day means nothing to me. It is just another day of the year.” There are many relationships that exist just for the namesake, but Ekka is not someone who would fall for such kind of love as he knows the value of a relationship. When asked if he was not interested in getting in a relationship, he replies, “I am in for it if a good girl comes across. But to a large extent, it depends on how the girl is – not only look wise, but also how we as a couple get along.”

There are people who may not choose to commit in any relationship. One of the reasons for this could be that they are still waiting for the right person. But, there are pros and cons associated with every relationship.

Ekka gives a balanced view about the situation. “One positive thing is that we can do what we want. You do something to make yourself happy, rather than making others happy. The negative thing is that there are times when one needs someone to talk to and share your feeling. But, being single you have to cope with it,” he tells this citizen journalist .

But, Marilyn, a single girl from Delhi talked about relationships in a different manner. “When you are in a relationship, money gets wasted. It is just a waste of money,” Marilyn feels.

Priti from Darjeeling has many friends, but feels she is not ready for a relationship as of now for personal reasons. In spite of being single, she looks at Valentine's Day positively. “Sadly, it is a day for couples, but it is not only about being in a relationship. It is also a day to go out with your other single friends and celebrate your single-hood,” Priti says.
