What is the core issue of Pakistan?
Ask any knowledgeable Pakistani what are his country's core issues with India and he will start ranting about Kashmir and the Indus Water Treaty. Everything is hostage to the settlement of these two issues on Pakistani terms irrespective of the now defunct UN Resolution on Kashmir.

The truth is that Kashmir and IWT are far from being the core issues between India and Pakistan. They are basically consequences and not issues which have resulted in the endless stalemate between the two neighbouring countries. The real core issue is Pakistan's lack of identity or anchorage which has been created by the country itself.

Official Pakistani textbooks in state schools distort, omit and reconstruct the country's social and political history in a brazen manner with a bunch of lies. In 2012, the Jinnah Institute of Islamabad reviewed these books and described them as filled with curriculum of hate India and Hindus. Having denied its identity ab initio, Pakistan has been in a state of denial ever since. Due to its hate India mindset, Pakistan read Pakistani Army raised, trained, armed, supported, and funded jehadis against India, rather monsters, more Islamist then Pakistan had bargained for, have now turned against it with Islamabad not knowing what to do.

Even now, if Pakistan comes out with with its real Islamic heritage of a soft, humanistic, syncretic, Sufi-infused Islam, then it can still come back to normalcy. However, if it continues with its narrow, revivalist, fundamentalist Wahhabi Islam that it has imposed on its people as the ideology of Pakistan, then there is no hope for this country. Yes, it is true that Pakistan has been there for the last 70 years and this fact cannot be washed away, but the fact is that it is the only ideological state in the world that continues to be chained to an ideology that is confused, not liberal and ill-suited to a modern state. This is the true CORE ISSUE OF PAKISTAN.

With its internal dissensions, resentment among its citizens, who are not Punjabis belonging from its dominant Punjab province; jehadis turning against Pakistan and going berserk; after America now Pakistan running towards China and China exploiting Pakistan's feeling of insecurity in its ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, in which China has more or less converted Pakistan as its colony, Pakistan's future as an independent sovereign state appears to be bleak. All in all, it is a failed state. India must keep these facts in mind and deal with Pakistan, if not like an enemy, then almost as an enemy state.
