What is the metabolic disorder syndrome and how it can be treated?
Metabolism is the process when your body makes the energy from the food you eat. When some chemical reactions in the body interfere with this process, a metabolic disorder happens. The people who are suffering from the metabolic disorder, have too less a substance or in excess. This kind of disorder can be divided into different categories. Some affect the breakdown of carbohydrates, amino acids, or lipids. Another group of metabolic disorder affects the portions of the cells that produce the energy.

Major five risk factors which increase the possibility of developing stroke, heart disease and diabetes are related to metabolic disorder syndrome. The major risk factors are:

  •  Excess fat around the waist and stomach
  • Increased level of blood pressure (higher than 130/85 mmHg)
  • High blood sugar levels
  • Low levels of HDL (Good Cholesterol)
  • High triglyceride levels

Metabolic disorder specialist suggests that having one of these risk factors doesn't mean that you are suffering from the metabolic syndrome, but, it may increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease in the future. People having 3 or more of these risk factors should see a metabolic disorder expert. Do not ignore it, otherwise, it will increase your health complications.

Metabolic syndrome can be diagnosed by performing some clinical tests. The findings of these tests will conclude whether you have a metabolic disorder or not. Metabolic disorder specialist may check your waist perimeter, cholesterol levels, fasting blood triglycerides, blood pressure, and fasting glucose level. Any kind of abnormalities in any of these tests will be a clear signal of the presence of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome can be treated. The key goal of metabolic disorder treatment will be to lessen the risk of more health complications. The specialists will recommend some necessary changes in your lifestyle. They will suggest you lose weight 7-10% of your current weight and doing a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise 5-7 days a week. They may also ask to quit smoking. Your specialist may prescribe medicines to minimize your blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol. They may also advise aspirin (low-dose) to control your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Prevention from metabolic syndrome is definitely possible. Eating a healthy diet which includes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and cereals can be quite helpful in decreasing the risk of metabolic disorder syndrome. By maintaining your waist circumference, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol can successfully reduce your risk of developing metabolic syndrome and other health complications. In particular, exercise is the best metabolic disorder treatment. You stay healthy and fit by doing the regular physical activity; it will keep your blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar level in the range. You need to maintain a healthy weight.

Early diagnosis of the metabolic disorder will improve the chances of treatment and also, reduce health complications over the long run. You can also develop the metabolic disorder when your organs like your liver or pancreas become diseased, infected or don't function normally. Diabetes is one such example.
