What makes Noida's DND Flyway one of India's best toll plaza?
The DND Flyway (Delhi Noida Direct Flyway), a tolled expressway completes 13 years of operation today on 7th February 2014. It was built and maintained by the Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd. The DND Flyway grew out of a need to bridge the growing population of Delhi with its neighbours across the Yamuna. It is considered to be one of the best toll plazas in India, handling more than one lakh vehicles.
The DND main plaza consists of 31 lanes with a mix of cash and ETC Lanes. The plaza is being operated with a state of art toll technology. Even after completing 13 years of operation, it is yet world
class. Commuters who use the flyway drive with eye pleasing horticulture across the carriageway, and during the nights the flyway is beautifully lit with visible signage’s for direction, display and guidance.
Some of the operational uniqueness of the toll plaza are its well trained toll collectors in etiquette, mannerism and faster processing. The trained staff manages the toll plaza very efficiently during peak hour with coin management, diverting the extended queue to the empty lanes and by attending the lane query at minimum possible time so as to avoid long queues. The current processing time per vehicle per lane is 10 seconds, which means 360 vehicles are processed in an hour from cash lane. While the same for ETC is approximately 8 seconds or 480 vehicles in an hour.
The users who use the lane frequently are also given some user privileges like giving ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) cards, and providing a separate lane for ETC users. Total vehicle movement from plaza is recorded number wise with vehicle classification.
The authorities are planning to come up with further improvement in their services. Some of their future plans include integration of the Barapullah elevated Road with DND Flyway, and also upgrading the toll technology used at toll plaza.
