In unverified images doing rounds on social media, Pakistan's ex cricket captain turned Politician Imran Khan is rumoured to be shot dead on August 12, 2014. Details of the incident are yet to be reported by mainstream media. The news that is doing rounds in popular mobile messanger whatsapp has been written off by many twitteratis. A official statement confirming or denying the report is still pending.
Earlier today, Telegraph (www.telegraph.co.uk) predicted violent clash on the streets of Islamabad as 100,000 supporters from Imran Khan's party were to take to the streets to protest against ruling leader Nawaz Sharif's govt. rigging general elections of the country. One of the country's most popular cleric Tahirul Qadri also promised to support the protests.
Imran Khan is one of the Pakistan's most popular former cricketers who launched his own political party Tehreek-e-Insaf in 1996. If the rumours of his gunned down is found true, the incident will be a reminiscent of a last year's event where Zahra Shahid Hussain, the vice-president of the party's chapter in Sindh, was shot dead. While we await the confirmation on the news, our prayers go all out for the well being of charismatic person who had been a great cricketer and a fierce politician in Pakistan's history. Twitteratis have reacted to this message with sharp criticism with many calling the image in question fake.
