AT PRESENT everybody is talking about the election winning spree of the Congress and its allies, as this was a vote for stability and secularism. What is it really so?

Look at the way the Indian stock market behaved on 18 May 2009 and even property market, bullion, commodity, among others had seen a noticeable jump turning India as a country into something like a "Gambler's Den".

According to market sources, this happened just because Dr. Manmohan (a professional economist) is going to take the oath of office for a second term as Prime Minister of India. Guess what he said a fortnight ago. If one goes by the published statements of Dr. Singh in some dailies of the country that if he got another chance, there would be a turn around in the Indian economy in 100 days.

The person who led the country for five years and at the end left things in total recession, high cost of essentials owing to the global meltdown, how can he work miracles irrespective of the global trend only after the election. Why couldn’t he do the same in just 100 days before the General Election?

Thanks to the media as the majority of the media men seems to be loyal to the current leadership. No questions were raised about such a statement.

Now, when there is an environment of total uncertainty in the international market, the Indian investment segment looks in no mood to move ahead cautiously. A cartel of so called big operators including foreign investors, domestic mutual funds and high net worth individuals are trying every tactics to lure the common man to park their hard earned money in any of the available investment option. These so called big operators are folding their sleeves to make heavy profits once again, courtesy the current leadership. The way the present leadership is watching the trend, leaves enough hints, as to how the majority of the population of the country like India are exploited.

At one point, someone talks about poor people of India and also pours a bundle of sentiments towards the cause of the poor. The big question is after independence which party has ruled the country for more than forty five years? And in such a long period what did they do for the poor of this country? Why do they still feel proud about India's poor? If this is the parameter of progress that in a deflation era, the cost of essential commodities along with the housing (property) clearly has gone out of the reach of the common man? Leave aside the poor, today even a middle class family having four members and an earning of between Rs.15, 000 to Rs. 25,000 cannot think of living a normal life.

However, it is observed that presently, when a common man is in the grip of lust for money, our so called professional leadership is busy making the country a gambler's den. The media has also taken the current happening in capital market as shot in the arm as they are busy saying Sensex will cross 20k at the end of 2009. With all this now the big question is where this country is heading?

I am fully agree with the views of writer and convey my thanks on such small but analytical picture of current leadership.
