Happy Planet Index is best conceived as a measure of the environmental efficiency of supporting well-being in a given country - look on the really interesting results!
RECENTLY VERY interesting article appeared on the Internet. There were published the results of International Survey Happy Planet Index (HPI) with the list of the countries where are the best conditions from environmental point of view for the permanent living. Quality of air and water, ocean conditions, habits and customs and general approach to the Mother Nature were taken into account in this survey.
The first place and the highest score were given to Costa Rica. It is not so surprising because almost everybody knows not only about beautiful nature in this small Central American country but also about the care of the local government how to preserve this gift from the god.
On the second place but also the first place in Caribbean among all the countries of the world finished, Dominican Republic.
It might surprise somebody but definitely not us who live here permanently. This island has it all, national parks, endemic species, beautiful ocean on the south and on the north, mountains and valleys covered with tropical jungle and forests, wild streams and majestic rivers. And everything is to the full disposition of people who live here or come here just for vacation.
Just as an example, in comparison with the Dominican Republic highly developed United States of America shamefully ended on the 114th place in this survey.
