White House Easter Egg Roll to take place on April 22
Though Easter will be celebrated in the US and across the world on April 21 but the Easter Egg Roll event will take place on Monday, April 22, at the White House. The Easter Egg Roll is the longest held annual presidential tradition in the US since Lincoln administration.

Easter is a Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead on the third day after his burial following his crucification by the Romans at Calvary. The festival marks culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded Great Lent which is a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance by the devout.

"The President and First Lady are honored to continue the tradition of the White House Easter Egg Roll that dates back to 1878 with President Rutherford B. Hayes.  The Easter Egg Roll will take place on Monday, April 22, 2019, on the South Lawn of the White House.  Families with children 13 years old and younger are invited to join the President, First Lady, White House staff, and their families for a day of festivities," stated the White House release.

The release adds that this year's official White House Easter Egg Roll commemorative eggs will be available to the general public. It may interesting to know that the 2019 White House Easter Egg Roll is made possible through a collaboration between the White House Historical Association, The White House, and the National Park Service.
