While Naxalites and police blame and kill each other, innocent people get caught in the crossfire. Naxalites attack villages and kill people for informing the police and police tortures the innocent to trace the rebels
IN THE early days of Independence control was exercised by land lords over the people of weaker sections of society. Then people who were against this kind of suppressive control revolted and took up weapons becoming Naxalites. Their main motive was to loot landlords and share the loot with the suppressed. This was just not the right way of solving the problem and Vinoba Bhave said "I will be the first one to join you if you leave the path of violence". He made many of the landlords give up their land to the people free of cost.
On the other hand during the same period when the Nizam refused to join India the police was sent in and took control of Hyderabad. Now after 61 years of independence of this free democratic country the situation has grown even worse. Both Naxalites and the police are hunting each other in forests making the lives of the tribals and villages miserable. People have started leaving their homes for survival. And it is not just the problem of one state. Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and other stats suffer the same nature of problems. While Naxalites and police blame and kill each other innocent people get caught in the crossfire. Naxalites attack villages and kill people for informing the police and police tortures the innocent to trace the rebels.
Decades have passed and many come into politics, the police and other respectable professions pledging to do their best in improving people’s lives. While uneducated innocent people believe what is not true and join the Naxalites unemployment has severely affected lives. Who should these hapless people took up to? Who are the people responsible for the mess? Where have principles gone? When will things get solved?
