Who could be the next prime minister of India?
Though there is a long list of contenders who are looking for the post of prime minister, but for us choices are limited. If Manmohan Singh fails to get a mandate or wishes to take a break, then the next choice could be P Chidambharam, but for him 2G scam allegations could play a spoilsport.
THERE CAN'T be a better replacement than Hon’ble prime minister Dr
Manmohan Singh himself, but God forbid, in case there is a change in the political atmosphere, it will be a necessity. The situation can only arise if there is a need for mid-term elections or if UPA fails to form a government after the 2014 General Elections.
In case, UPA gets the majority and Dr Singh wishes a break, the natural choices would be S M Krishna, P Chidambaram or A K Antony, but Chidambaram looks the best choice, though he is facing the 2G scam allegations.
Let Rahul Gandhi wait for his turn for another two terms since he is yet to gain experience and is not mature enough to handle the show. Now, in case, we don’t wish for a change in the ruling party, the opposition takes over the charge, there is a list of candidates to be considered. Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nitesh Kumar and Narendra Modi are the prospective candidates. To me other than Modi all have a clean image though Modi has been the key person as chief minister behind the Gujarat development.
Indeed, the politics is a very dirty game of ifs and buts, but when it comes to the selection platform we have to solve the equation willingly or even unwillingly, at times under the democratic ruling.
