1) Stardom: When it comes to super stardom, Amitabh Bacchan is the king. This doesn’t imply that no superstar of current generation can ever match him. But he deserves the ‘King’ title as he is the first superstar to have spread Bollywood culture outside India to a humongous extent.

2) Acting: This might come as a surprise to many but real art cinema lovers would unanimously agree that it is difficult to find someone as natural and gifted as Naseeruddin Shah. From a blind villain in Mohra to message oriented films like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Parzania’ and many more, Naseeruddin Shah has come a long way.

3) Media hype/Marketing: It shall not make any sense if one thinks of any name other than King Khan. From celebrating birthdays with journalists to inviting reporters as special guests at important gatherings to promoting movies and successfully running other ventures, Shahrukh Khan has done everything which would help him retain the title. This is evident from the cheers he gets from journalists from behind the cameras!

4) Box office: SRK has given more hits than any other actor. However, the title ‘Bollywood ka Baadshah’ no longer remains true. There is a simple logic behind this – A few years ago, SRK used to give about 3 superhits in a year. Aamir could not match in terms of collections as he stuck to one movie a year formula. Salman was left behind, thanks to his inconsistency. Akshay Kumar was nowhere in the race. However, things have changed and the ruling king is undoubtedly Akshay Kumar. Bollywood gets it’s highest share from Akshay Kumar movies. SRK has been left behind in the race as he has started doing lesser movies and even had no release in 2009. His situation is similar to that of Aamir Khan.

5) Per movie collection: SRK fans would anticipate his name coming in this section, but it will not be happening now as this rightly belongs to Perfectionist – Aamir Khan. He has rightly proved to the world that no one – be it Akshay or other leading Khan can match his ‘Per movie’ collection. This title was snatched from SRK after the historic collections of Ghajini.

6) Self publicity: Anyone stating a name other than SRK shall get a special prize because as far as news reports reveal, there is only one superstar who proclaims himself the king of Bollywood or the Ronaldinho of acting.

7) Action: There is no need to elaborate on this issue. Without any justification, this title goes to Khiladi King Kumar.

8) Romance: This surely goes to SRK. Known for his strength in the emotional front, he has given many hits in this genre and his fans do not seem to be disappointed by his monotonous acting.

9) Family oriented movies : The eternal ‘Prem’ of Bollywood – Salman Khan.

10) Mass appeal: No one is going to beat Sunny Deol for sure in this. Sanjay Dutt and charismatic Khan – Salman Khan are close contenders.

12) Overseas King: SRK, as evident from his overseas collections. This is mainly attributed to the hits he has given in the past. His movies have seen great openings in the overseas market.

13) To newcomers/aspiring actors: Salman Khan is not the King in this aspect but the God. He really deserves everyone’s good will for putting aside his super stardom and acting with lesser known stars to attending previews of unknown faces to encouraging others. In short, “Sallu tussi God ho”

14) Comedy : This has shifted from Govinda to Akshay Kumar who has an impeccable comic touch. Akshaye fom the image of Khiladi (action hero) to comdey hero Raju of Hera Pheri and then action packed with comedy. Akki is doing it well.

15) Comeback: It’s Akshay Kumar again. There is hardly anyone who has ruled Bollywood after being written off by critics. But this guy, beating all odds turned out to be the finest actor of Bollywood. Whom today Bolywood consider as complete entertainment package.
